The Sunfire is capable of up to 1900°C operating temperature and is available as a tube furnace and a split furnace (Sunfire SI). It continues to be used for the research and development that led to the advanced state-of-the-art crystal growth equipment.
The beauty of the Mellen EDG, Electro Dynamic Gradient Furnace, is that it is capable of almost any application, including the Mellen Gradient Freeze Method. The EDG allows the user to create a flat zone area inside the furnace where all zones measure the same temperature, also known as an isothermal zone. The controlled temperatures range from 100°C to 1900°C.
The EDG allows the operator to establish a gradient, or length of controlled temperature, between zones where the temperature varies a predetermined amount. Consider the possibilities of having a flat temperature spike or a gradual increase/decrease in temperature throughout the furnace.
The EDG allows the user uniform temperature control. With the EDG's numerous zones and power supply, (a standard EDG has 24 zones) a user can set and maintain a temperature. This constant setting allows for reliability and repeatability within your lab. The ADAPT System is designed specifically for use with the EDG as a computer-based control. The ADAPT System offers many user-friendly features, such as programming control, security features, graphing, and PIV tuning.
Field removable vestibules help prevent thermal losses from the ends of the furnace, and enable the user to add as many additional sections as required.
The Mellen retorts include the necessary heat shields and stainless steel flange and seal assemblies to permit gas tight operation.
The sight glass is uniquely designed for thermal distortion-free viewing of a heated cavity.
