INFORMATION

GENERAL

There are several wire types that can be utilized in the CV series furnace to allow it to operate at a variety of temperatures. Not only can this furnace can operate at temperatures up to 1250ºC using standard wires, it can use premium wire to reach even higher temperatures, even reaching 1600ºC in an inert or vacuum atmosphere.

CV series furnaces that utilize molybdenum or platinum wire have a maximum temperature of 1600ºC. Using MELLEN REH or REH2 heating elements, the furnace can reach temperatures as high as 1325ºC in air . The more standard wire types (chromel, FeCrAl, or APM wire) can reach temperatures of 1100ºC, 1200ºC, or 1250ºC respectively.

MELLEN uses high quality, low-mass ceramic fiber insulation for thermal efficiency. The furnace’s outer skin consists of a stainless steel shell that ensures maintenance free durability. The bottom end plate is reinforced to prevent thermal distortion.

The beauty of the Vulcan line is that it breaks the boundary of what a standard furnace is. With the Vulcan line, any size furnace is a standard furnace. The heating elements in no way limit the size or shape of the furnace. If there are dimensions that you require, MELLEN can make them.

Variable casters or leveling feet are available upon request.

HEATING ELEMENTS

Multiple wire types are used to ensure rapid and efficient heat control of the system at any temperature. Temperatures up to 1100ºC use nickel chrome alloy element wire, up to 1325ºC uses various iron chromium aluminum alloys, and up to 1450ºC uses platinum wire. Wire for furnace temperatures reaching up to 1450ºC can be run in air.

Molybdenum wire may be used to achieve 1600ºC when operating in vacuum or inert atmosphere.

Power requirements can vary based on temperature, diameter, and heated length of the furnace. Estimated power requirements will be provided during the quoting process.

Vulcan furnaces can be designed with field replaceable elements for customer convenience.

CONTROLLER

Sold Separately. This varies based on the wire type used, but for a standard CV furnace up to 1250ºC MELLEN recommends the PS205 series furnace.
