MELLEN’s Rocking Furnace System with Integrated Controls is designed to keep the furnace and work-charge in motion. The Rocking Furnace keeps the work homogenized or continually stirred for your process while the furnace follows programmed temperature processes. MELLEN offers various models in standard diameters of 3-, 4-, and 5- inch bores, with 12- to 48- inch lengths for single or multiple zones.

MELLEN rocking furnaces can be manual or automatic. The automatic rocking control system is integrated with the furnace power supply to reduce the overall floor space required. The V3 integrated system is equipped with a digitally controlled rocking mechanism capable of temperature or time delay, cycle or time rocking, as well as manual rocking time, and manually controlled rocking speed.

Manual rocking furnaces are designed to easily be rocked to any angle, and locked in place as desired.

HEATING ELEMENTS

Standard MELLEN Rocker furnaces for temperatures up to 1250ºC utilize APM, FeCrAl, or chromel wire. APM heating elements are capable of 1250ºC in air, while FeCrAl heating elements can achieve 1200ºC, and chromel heating elements are capable of 1100ºC in air.

For temperatures up to 1550°C MELLEN Rocker furnaces utilize silicon carbide, or platinum heating elements. The iron chromium aluminum elements are capable of temperatures up to 1325ºC through a custom cross section and element design. Platinum elements can be used for temperatures up to 1450ºC in air.

Silicon carbide elements can be used for temperatures up to 1550°C. These elements operate with low surface-watt loading for longer life at elevated temperatures. They are strategically engineered to maximize element life without compromising uniformity of heating within the furnace.

CONTROLLER 

MELLEN rocking furnace systems come complete with an integrated dual-display controller with 1x8 Ramp/Soak/Program Segments. Specific controllers are available upon request.

There is RS485 Communications and an integrated over temperature alarm for each zone in the system.
