Sunfire EDG | 0-1900ºC

The MELLEN ElectroDynamic Gradient Furnace (EDG), is capable of almost any application. The EDG allows the user to create a flat zone area inside the furnace where all zones measure the same temperature. The controlled temperatures range from 100°C to 1900°C. Standard EDG furnaces have 1- inch long zones, allowing precise control of the heated zones (e.g. a standard 24- zone EDG furnace will have 24- inches of heated length). The total number of zones can be modified through MELLEN’s proprietary software control system, ADAPT, without the need to rewire the entire system. Smaller, or partial zones are available upon request.

Isothermal Zone

The beauty of the MELLEN EDG, ElectroDynamic Gradient Furnace, is that it is capable of almost any application, including the MELLEN Gradient Freeze Method. The EDG allows the user to create a flat zone area inside the furnace where all zones measure the same temperature, also known as an isothermal zone. The controlled temperatures range from 100°C to 1900°C.

Controlled Gradient

The EDG allows the operator to establish a gradient, or length of controlled temperature, between zones where the temperature varies a predetermined amount. Consider the possibilities of having a flat temperature spike or a gradual increase/decrease in temperature throughout the furnace. The control possibilities are truly endless.

Numerous Zones and Powerful Computer Control Systems

The EDG allows the user uniform temperature control. With the EDG's numerous zones and power supply, a user can set and maintain a temperature. This constant setting allows for reliability and repeatability within your lab. The ADAPT Control System is designed specifically for use with the EDG as a computer-based control. The ADAPT software offers many user-friendly features, such as programming control, security features, graphing, and PIV tuning.

ADAPT allows any configuration of the zones for the EDG furnace. The same 24-zone furnace could be configured with twenty-four 1-inch zones, twelve 2-inch zones, two 12-inch zones, or any variation therein, without requiring separate furnaces or rewiring.
